Cyberstalking, Page 1: The Beginning

I had a girlfriend from 2010 to 2012. Her stepdad personally knows some of the big names in Silicon Valley. One day my ex vaguely told me her stepdad had the ability to spy, and I didn’t think much of it. At the time, I was working in the construction industry and I kept on seeing that software developers were in demand and they generally make more money. So I was willing to conquer a new learning curve and make a transition to the software industry. I had already interned at Google in the summer of 2007, so I figured the transition wouldn’t be too difficult. So I was on my iPad one day and I started doing some research and eventually downloaded an introduction to C++, which is a programming language. Later, probably a couple of hours later, the stepdad and I went for a drive, and he mentioned C++ and how it’s the only language you need to know, or said some illogical statement like that. That's when I knew he was cyberstalking. Later, my ex’s mom showed me a website for a VPN service, so I figured they were probably spying on me through the home network. Sometime after that my girlfriend and I broke up; it wasn’t working out.

After we broke up 2012, I found an online program to get a bachelors degree in computer science, so I pursued that for two years. That year I bought a MacBook Air; the same one I have today. Later that year, I saw a Craigslist post for an internship at a startup, so I applied and told my ex’s stepdad the good news. I had a feeling he had conspired with people to arrange this internship for me, but I was in denial that it was with bad intentions, and I didn’t realize it was a vindictive act until way later.

Which reminds me, when my ex and I started dating, I saw and replied to a Craigslist ad to repair laptops. To make a long story short, it was a $1,500 scam and I’m sure her stepdad was behind this because people have hinted this to me to tease. I actually was skeptical about this ad; it involved money orders, and I forget exactly how money orders work, but I suddenly had $1,500 dollars in my pocket, and I was supposed to wire money back to the poster. I just held onto this money because it felt cool having $1,500 in my pocket. I wasn’t going to wire this money. However, my ex took me to the store and walked me through it as if to help me because I was procrastinating. Then a couple of days later, I realized it was a scam, and she was oh so helpful; she printed out Craigslist pages for me to read about how to avoid scams, but the money was already gone. Which also reminds me, one time her stepdad gave me a broken hard drive and I had no idea why. I was young and naive; I didn’t know people could be like this.
